A Brief History
2013:
– 38 participants created 1,178 pieces of art in January.
– Initiated by artist Morgan Cahn.
2014:
– Hazel Saunderson, Becca Grieg, and Theresa Lynn continued the event after Morgan moved away.
– Over 50 participants, with 33 exhibiting.
2015:
– Hazel Saunderson and Becca Greig led the project, welcoming new and returning participants.
– Successful exhibition at WASPS artist studios.
2016:
– Becca Greig and Sam Sherriff took over.
– Ended with a creative exhibition by Dundee participants.
2017:
– Sam Sherriff continued the project.
– 58 participants, with 41 exhibiting.
2018:
– Sam Sherriff leading project.
– Participation increased to 70+, with 52 exhibiting.
2019:
– Sam Sherriff leading project.
– First year of funding by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
– Over 100 participants, with 61 exhibiting and 368 visitors.
2020:
– First year with a team alongside Sam: Linda Barclay Isles, Kristina Aburrow, Hannah Wingfield, and Leah Gurr.
– Over 100 participants, with 112 exhibiting online due to COVID-19.
– Launch of FADDCreatives to support the community during lockdown.
2021 & 2022:
– Coordinated by Sam Sherriff, with Hannah Wingfield, Leah Gurr, Jilly Noble (our photographer since 2019), and Kirsty Baxter.
– Successful online exhibitions with over 100 participants each year.
– Hosted a social meet and mini projects in 2022.
